Hello, my name is Kip Sprout, and I am an adventurer who loves to document his stories. Born and raised in the Indianapolis area, I am now based in Alaska where I split my time between McCarthy and Anchorage. I spend my summers in McCarthy where I work with St. Elias Alpine Guides, and my winters are spent in Anchorage chasing snow between the Chugach and Talkeetnas.
My hopes with this blog are to inspire others to get out into the mountains through my stories. I also wanted a place to be the definite collection of my adventures, so I am also treating this site as a journal of sorts. One day I look forward to scrolling through this site and seeing it populated with trips from all over the state, and eventually the world!
It would be wrong to not give credit to those who have inspired my in creating this website, first my family back home in Indianapolis who hear my stories but can never keep them straight. My mom has always supported my writing, and that support helped inspire me to start this blog. Next, I’d like to thank those who have created Alaska centric blogs before me, you guys are the ones who showed me the value in documenting trips up here. Some inspiring bloggers include Mike Records, William Finley, Luc Mehl, and Joe Stock to name a few.
